Revision Checklist
Lubrication
It is recommended the use of a lithium soap based grease type EP NGL12.
Operation control
Verify brake cylinders shaft's stroke, comparing with the specifications established by the vehicle assembler.
Torque test
With vehicle at rest and wheels wedged, loose the brake and with a torque meter verify the conical coupling torque by turning the worm hexagonal counterclockwise.
Torque must be above 2 kgfm and, otherwise the adjuster must be repaired or substituted.
Shoes substitution
Turn the worm hexagonal counterclockwise until "S" shaft is in zero position. There may be a noise. There is no need to take out the cylinder shaft pin or loosen the command arm fixation screw.
Take out and examine brake drum, rollers and slides. Change shoes and mount the drum. Spin the hexagonal clockwise until the shoe touches the drum. Then, rotate the hexagonal counterclockwise ¾ to 1 turn, thus making a gap pre-fitting.
IMPORTANT: Operate the vehicle brake several times. Thus the automatic brake adjuster will perform the gap's fine set for the specified value. |
