Technical Support > Automatic Brake Adjuster

Revision Checklist

Lubrication

- It is recommended the use of a lithium soap based grease type EP NGL12.

Operation control

- Verify brake cylinders shaft's stroke, comparing with the specifications established by the vehicle assembler.

Torque test

- With vehicle at rest and wheels wedged, loose the brake and with a torque meter verify the conical coupling torque by turning the worm hexagonal counterclockwise.

- Torque must be above 2 kgfm and, otherwise the adjuster must be repaired or substituted.

Shoes substitution

- Turn the worm hexagonal counterclockwise until "S" shaft is in zero position. There may be a noise. There is no need to take out the cylinder shaft pin or loosen the command arm fixation screw.

- Take out and examine brake drum, rollers and slides. Change shoes and mount the drum. Spin the hexagonal clockwise until the shoe touches the drum. Then, rotate the hexagonal counterclockwise ¾ to 1 turn, thus making a gap pre-fitting.

IMPORTANT: Operate the vehicle brake several times. Thus the automatic brake adjuster will perform the gap's fine set for the specified value.
