Instructions for Install and Regulation
1 - When installing the automatic brake adjuster it is necessary to be sure that:
The S-cam shaft is not worn, there must be no gaps and that grooves must be clean.
The vehicle must be wedged, with a minimum 6 bar pressure on the pneumatic system and with emergency brakes off.
2 - Apply a thin layer of grease on S-shaft grooves and set the adjuster, making sure that the box arrow points to the brake's application direction.
3 - Place axial gap regulation washers and the ring will lock.
IMPORTANT: Axial gap must be 0.6 - 1.0 mm. If necessary, it must be adjusted through the use of compensation washers (0.5; 1.5; 2.0 and 2.5 mm). Incorrect use of the washers may inhibit the well-functioning of AUTO LINEA's automatic brake adjuster.
4 - Rotate the worm hexagonal clockwise, until the adjuster end and the cylinder shaft holes match. Install the connection pin and dock the small cup.
5 - Hand push the control unit's arm in the direction of brake application (arrow direction) until there is resistance. Tighten the unit arm's fixation screw or washer with a 2.0 to 2.5 kgfm torque.
IMPORTANT: Make sure that the support command lever is not stressed after tightening. If necessary, use compensation washers.
6 - Turn the worm screw clockwise until shoes touch the drum.
7 - Return the shaft counterclockwise ¾ -1 turn. During this operation, a characteristic noise may be produced. It is normal.
8 - Push the brake sometimes for the adjuster to make the final dock.
